2007 Chevrolet Express 2500 Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear disc brake pads on 2007 Chevrolet Express 2500?
A: Check the brake master cylinder fluid level before starting work. If fluid stands at mid-point between maximum and minimum markings no fluid needs to be drained but if the level is high drain it to midpoint. Lift the vehicle and place proper support under it to access the brake components. Take off the tire and wheel components from the vehicle. Test caliper function by using a c-clamp to lower brake pistons slowly while moving the clamp according to need. Anchor the brake caliper using mechanic wire when disconnecting it from its mount to keep hydraulic brake hose free from harm during work. Check the caliper parts by removing it from the bracket but keeping the hydraulic Brake Line connected. Remove brake pads from their bracket and keep track of their positioning before discarding the anti-rattle clips from the mount. During installation keep brake pads in their initial position from removal by first attaching anti-rattle clips to Brake Caliper Bracket then installing brake caliper followed by new brake pads. Lower the vehicle after putting the tire and wheel back in. With the engine shut off apply the brake pedal just two-thirds of its way until slowly letting it go. Press the brake pedal twice every 15 seconds until the brake pedal feels firm to help the brake caliper pistons and pads align properly. Close by filling the brake fluid reservoir with new fluid then performing mandatory brake surface polishing.
