2008 Chevrolet Express 2500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear disc brake pads on 2008 Chevrolet Express 2500?
A: During the Brake Pad switch you need to check the fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir. If the level stands halfway between its maximum and lowest acceptable limits then you should not remove any fluid. But if the fluid level reaches higher than that point you should lower it to the midway point. Lift your vehicle off the ground first and take out both the tire and wheel components. Check the caliper performance and gently put down the piston with a c-clamp before relocating it. Keep the brake caliper secure with strong mechanic wire when you disconnect it from its base and connect it to the hydraulic brake hose to avoid harm. Separate the caliper from its bracket while leaving the hose connected and check the assembly components. Disconnect and take away brake pads from the caliper bracket part by part keeping notes about their installation position. Throw away the anti-rattle clips. Place the new anti-rattle clips on the Brake Caliper Bracket before putting on the brake caliper and new brake pads according to their original installation positions. Place the wheel and tire back on and lower the vehicle. Without turning on the engine apply the brake pedal to two-thirds of its total range and ease off. Press the pedal for 15 seconds at least twice to let the brake caliper pistons settle within their new position. After installing all components put brake fluid into the master cylinder until it reaches its proper fluid mark. Also use normal equipment to seat the brake pads and rotors when needed.
