2007 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Air Bag Clockspring in the Steering Wheel on 2007 Chevrolet HHR?
A: Begin inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module coil replacement by aligning front wheels straight and maintaining the wheel at center position. Begin by disabling the sir system but keep working through removing the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module followed by the Steering Wheel and steering column covers. The air bag clock spring module assembly requires removal of the wires that connect it to the wiper/washer harness connector and the headlamp/turn signal harness connector and the air bag clock spring harness connector. A small flat-bladed tool will carefully remove the two retaining tabs at the base of the air bag clock spring assembly so you can slide it off the steering column. Start by stripping out the headlamp/turn signal switch followed by the wiper washer switch from the air bag clock spring module assembly. Begin the installation process by attaching both the wiper washer and headlamp/turn signal switches to the air bag clock spring module assembly using screws. Check the air bag clock spring's central alignment before sliding it onto the steering column and clicking it into position. The air bag clock spring module assembly requires the wiper/washer harness connector and headlamp/turn signal harness connector along with the air bag clock spring harness connector to be reconnected. To complete the installation you must put back the steering column covers followed by the Steering Wheel and the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module before enabling the sir system.
