Begin the engine oil and Oil Filter replacement process by elevating the vehicle then placing a drain pan under the oil Drain Plug to drain all of the oil. Remove the oil pan Drain Plug after which you can reinstall it and tighten it to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Installation of the oil Drain Plug requires torque to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) before lowering the vehicle back to the ground. A socket or Oil Filter wrench should be used to remove the hex on top of the Oil Filter cap because open end wrenches should be avoided; use either a 32 mm (1 1/4 in) socket or an Oil Filter wrench to unfasten the Oil Filter cap followed by the filter itself. First remove the filter from the cap then mount a new Oil Filter to the cap. Reinstall the Oil Filter cap and filter but remember to keep the torque below 25 n.m (18 lb ft) to prevent a damaging cap seal failure that might cause an oil leak. Tighten the Oil Filter cap with a 32 mm (1 1/4 in) socket or an Oil Filter wrench until it reaches full seating but never exceed 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Place oil into the engine until it reaches the proper level.
