• Q: How to replace the engine front timing cover on 2007 Chevrolet HHR?

  A: To replace engine front cover, first, the drive belt tensioner is removed followed by removing the crankshaft balancer and the air cleaner assembly, finally, the windshield washer solvent reservoir. Mount the engine support fixture, remove the Engine Mount to bracket bolts, engine mount to side rail nuts, and Engine Mount from the engine compartment. Next, remove the Engine Mount bracket to engine bolts and the Engine Mount bracket as well. Take the front cover off the engine to water pump bolt and raise the vehicle to take off the front cover of engine bolts discarding the engine front cover gasket. Put a new engine front cover gasket on for the dowel pins and attach up the engine front cover and follow the fastener notice. Tighten the bolts to tighten the engine front cover to 25 n. M (18 lb ft) and lower the vehicle. Fitting the engine front cover and bolt to the water pump and tighten up at a force of 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Turn the Engine Mount bracket to the engine and fasten the to the engine-mount bracket for 50 n.m (37 lb ft) tightening long bolts in the forward and lower rear holes and short bolt in the upper rear hole. To the bolts of the Engine Mount bracket, tighten in the order: upper rear, lower rear and forward, also to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Mount the Engine Mount into the engine compartment and tighten the Engine Mount to side rail nuts to 100 n.m (74 lb ft) while assuring the Engine Mount to bracket bolts has hand started without prying. Install the Engine Mount bolts brackets and tighten the moments in sequence middle, rear, and front in the amount of 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Finally, take off the fixture for the engine support and install the windshield washer solvent reservoir, air cleaner assembly, crankshaft balancer, and drive belt tensioner.
