2007 Chevrolet Malibu Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2007 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: Start your Brake Master Cylinder job by taking vacuum from the vacuum Brake Booster through the vacuum check valve at its grommet without disconnecting the valve from its vacuum brake hose. First unplug the electrical connection from the master cylinder and brake pipe at the Brake Fluid Level Sensor. Then seal the brake pipe fitting ports with a rubber cap to avoid fluid leakage and contamination. Inspect and replace the master cylinder vacuum Brake Booster seal after you take out the master cylinder through its two mounting nuts. When reusing the reservoir disconnect it from the master cylinder. Attach the Brake Master Cylinder reservoir to the master cylinder if needed and perform a bench bleeding process followed by verifying the master cylinder-to-vacuum Brake Booster seal is correctly positioned. Apply the vacuum Brake Booster with the master cylinder using 2 mounting nuts that require 25 n.m (18 lb ft) torque. Direct the brake pipes to the master cylinder and secure them with a torque of 20 n.m force. Plug the electrical connector back into the Brake Fluid Level Sensor and the vacuum Brake Booster check valve ports located in the vacuum Brake Booster grommet. Complete the hydraulic brake system by releasing fluid from the system.
