How to replace the rear side door hinge on 2007 GMC Canyon?

The first step to change the rear side door hinge involves removing the bolt which secures the rear door check link to the body. The first step includes removing the rear door wiring harness grommet which sits on the body before disconnecting the door wiring harness connectors. Unbolt the rear door hinge keeper straps so they become free of their mounting position. Work with assistance to carry the rear door from its body side hinges onto a clean protected area. Apply a clean rag to wipe the body side hinges before identifying the rear door mounting points using a grease pencil or alternative marker. Detach the bolts that secure the body side hinges to the body before retrieving the hinges off. To install the body side rear door hinge place it in the proper position according to the alignment marks before fastening the bolts that connect the hinge to the body while tightening them to 25 N.m (18.4 lb ft). After lowering the rear door with teammates onto the body side hinge straps you must tighten the retention bolts for the straps to 25 N.m (18.4 lb ft). Follow by connecting the rear door wiring harness connectors and attach the rear door wiring harness grommet to the body structure. Tighten the bolt which anchors the rear door check link to the body structure at 25 N.m (18.4 lb ft) while checking that the door operates correctly and maintains its proper orientation.
