How to replace a two-piece drive shaft on 2007 GMC Canyon?

The first step to replace the two-piece propeller shaft is selecting transmission neutral and releasing the park brake when engaged. Proper vehicle lifting must include transmission and center bearing support and rear drive axle pinion flange along with transmission u-joints and center bearing support. The propeller shafts need to be rotated until all external clips align before applying marks on the pinion drive flange and center bearing support and transmission. Put away the clamps and retaining bolts that hold the rear propeller shaft at the pinion drive flange and center bearing while using tape or rubber bands to fasten the rear u-joint bearing caps in place. Begin the procedure by extracting the rear propeller shaft from its position at the center bearing then unfasten the mounting bolts that support the center bearing and finally remove the center bearing out of the crossmember slot. Take out the propeller shaft from its installation in the transmission unit. When installing the shaft place its reference points against the transmission. Then install the shaft. You should place the center bearing onto the crossmember before using mounting bolts to fasten it at 80 n.m (59 lb ft). Follow this procedure to align the propeller shaft marks with the pinion yoke and then remove tape or rubber band, put in the u-joint to the pinion yoke before installing clamps followed by retaining bolts which need to be secured at 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Inspect the alignment marks once again to verify that the vehicle alignment is satisfactory before allowing the vehicle to lower itself.
