How to replace a two-piece drive shaft on 2008 GMC Canyon?

Before starting replacement of the two-piece propeller shaft set the transmission to neutral position and eliminate park brake pressure. Raise and support the vehicle. Proper alignment of the u-joints occurs when propeller shaft rotations reveal complete alignment of all external clips between the transmission, center bearing support, and rear drive axle pinion flange. Apply marks on the pinion drive flange, center bearing support and transmission section of the rear propeller shaft. Purge the retaining bolts from the rear propeller shaft at its positions on the pinion drive flange and center bearing. The rear u-joint bearing caps require rubber band or tape coverage before extracting the rear propeller shaft from the center bearing. After removing the mounting bolts from the center bearing the installer will extract the center bearing from the crossmember before taking out the propeller shaft from the transmission. When installing the propeller shaft users should match reference marks from the shaft to the transmission before setting the shaft inside the transmission. Screw the center bearing into position on the crossmember by tightening its mounting bolts at 80 n.m (59 lb ft). Move the propeller shaft in order to match its marks to the pinion yoke position before removing the strapping materials. Place the u-joint inside the pinion yoke before you install its clamps and retaining bolts and torque them to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). The last step involves checking that the alignment marks sit straight before lowering the vehicle completely.
