How to replace the body side emblem and nameplate on 2007 GMC Savana 2500?

Before working on the body side emblem and nameplate you need a Heat Gun (J 25070) and adhesive removal material 3M(R) P/N 07501 or comparable. Heat the emblem/nameplate with the J 25070 Heat Gun kept at 152 mm from the surface for 30 seconds while moving the tool in circles. You can separate the emblem/nameplate from the panel using a plastic flat tool and remove every trace of adhesive from both the body panel and back of the emblem with 3M P/N 07501 or its equal. Clean the damaged panel area using soap then water before drying with a clean non-fiber cloth. Use 3M(R) General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner Product 08984 or its equal to remove leftover adhesive. Wash the surface with a 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water mix and a clean lint-free cloth. Place a guideline or magnetic strip on the body panel and put the emblem/nameplate 1.4 inches plus minus 0.1 inch from the vertical edge and 44.3 inches plus minus 0.1 inch from the horizontal edge. Warm the panel when body temperature is beneath 19°C (66°F) using the Heat Gun (J 25070). Use 3M(R) Super Automotive Attachment Tape in double-coated acrylic foam with white (06380), black (06377), or gray (06382) backing and apply it with care since touching the tape can affect its performance. Use your fingers to apply the emblem/nameplate onto the masking tape or magnetic strip surface then hold it in place for 30 seconds to have the tape fully stick. Near the end take off the masking tape or magnetic strip from the backside.
