GMC Savana 2500 Emblem Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the door emblem and nameplate on GMC Savana 2500?
A: The first step to change a Savana Pro door emblem and nameplate involves putting protective tape on the emblem area while maintaining alignment. Apply a J 25070 heat gun at a 152 mm distance to apply gentle circular heat waves for 30 seconds to the emblem/nameplate. You must use a plastic flat-bladed tool to carefully detach the emblem/nameplate before paint damage occurs. Begin by clearing off all adhesive from both door panel and emblem/base surface using 3M(TM) Scotch Brite Molding Adhesive Remover Disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) or its equivalent product and complete this stage by cleaning the door panel with VMP naptha. Re-apply tape to the unmarked emblem/nameplate location. Heat the door surface with the heat gun (J 25070) to reach a minimum temperature of 21°C (70°F) without touching the emblem/nameplate adhesive side. After removing the front part of backing from the emblem/nameplate you should use your hands to press it onto the door panel while continuously removing the backing before rolling the piece to achieve proper attachment. Complete the check by confirming the emblem/nameplate has proper bonding then remove adhesive tape from near the door emblem.
