• Q: How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and Valve Stem Oil Seal on the left side on 2008 Cadillac CTS?

  A: Before replacing the left oil seal and valve spring you must remove the Starter motor. The en 46106 must remain installed to protect the Crankshaft from rotation because removing it makes you disassemble and reassemble the entire Camshaft timing system. Use the en 46106 device to secure the Crankshaft and take off both camshafts plus rocker arms. Connect the j 39313 Spark Plug port adapter to the air supply at the specified cylinder and take out its Spark Plug. Place the en 46110 (On-Vehicle Valve Spring Compressor) over the appropriate cylinder and secure its valve spring compressor nut tightly. Loosen the valve compressor nut before pulling out valve spring retainer and valve spring. Put the valve stem seal remover/installer en 46116 to take out valve stem seals. Install new valve stem seal using en 46116 tool then put in valve spring and valve spring retainer. Place the valve spring between the en 46110 and tighten its compressor nut. Next put in the valve spring keepers. Take off en 46110 and unplug the j 39313 from compressed air then get rid of j 39313. After setting the spark plugs and camshafts in place you must reinstall the Starter motor without the en 46106.
