• Q: How to replace the right exhaust manifold on a V8 and LHD on 2008 Cadillac SRX?

  A: Wear protective goggles together with gloves before starting replacement of the right Exhaust Manifold for v8 and lhd vehicles. Start the job by taking out generator bolts (1-3) and the generator assembly. The exhaust system must be removed with help from another person. The bank 1 sensor 1 heated Oxygen Sensor pigtail needs to be disconnected from its wiring harness connector. The right outer Tie Rod End must be detached from the Steering Knuckle when the vehicle has all-wheel drive (AWD) in order to reach the upper rear Exhaust Manifold shield bolt. Cautiously eliminate the bolts that secure the engine wiring harness bracket to the right cylinder head before setting the bracket to the side. The right Exhaust Manifold heat shield must be unbolted from its position before relocating it to the generator mount area for Exhaust Manifold bolt access. It is necessary to remove the Exhaust Manifold bolts from the right side then discard the old bolts before taking out the Exhaust Manifold studs if required. Inspect the right Exhaust Manifold for replacement before replacement of the gasket. Keep the original gasket out of use. The process requires unfastening the Exhaust Manifold heat shield and detached heated Oxygen Sensor that is connected to the Exhaust Manifold. Connect the bank 1 sensor 1 heated Oxygen Sensor electrical connector and install the Exhaust Manifold heat shield with its bolts tightened to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Before releasing the bracket securing the right cylinder head with engine wiring harness bolts use a torque wrench to regulate them to 45 n.m (33 lb ft). Reinstall the Tie Rod End to the Steering Knuckle it came from when assistance is available. After assistance remove the exhaust system then reinstall it before installing the generator while securing its bolts number 1 through 3.
