How to Replace the Coil Springs and Shock Absorber on 2008 Cadillac SRX?

Start by lifting and supporting the vehicle for shock absorber and its components replacement. Take out the wheel with its metal tire first before you remove the shock module from the vehicle. The shock module needs installation in the spring compressor while marking the proper installation positions for the upper Control Arm assembly and insulator when the shock absorber has full mobility. Before taking out the shock absorber from the shock module remove the magnaride sensor nut and shock absorber upper retaining nut while rotating the spring compressor forcing screw to compress the coil spring. Use the forcing screw to loosen the compressor for removal of the upper mounting plate as well as the coil spring while also removing the upper Control Arm bracket assembly and insulator. The installation requires proper orientation between the shock absorber lower mounting holes and the upper Control Arm bracket alignment pins which should have a 90-degree angle during assembly. Place the coil spring together with insulator and upper Control Arm bracket assembly and shock absorber into the spring compressor while keeping all marks aligned for the second spring compression step. The shock absorber retaining nut needs to be tightened to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) before installing the magnaride sensor nut. After removing the shock module from the spring compressor replace it into the vehicle. To complete the procedure reinstall the tire alongside wheel then lower the vehicle.
