  • Q: How to replace the steering knuckle on 2008 Cadillac SRX?
    A: In order to replace the steaks knuckle, raise and support the vehicle first. One must first take-off the tire and wheel, then wheel bearing/hub. Next, loosen the outer tie rod to steering hook retaining nut, and with the help of the universal steering linkage puller (J 24319-B), pull the tie rod away from the Steering Knuckle. Pull off the brake hose bracket to the Steering Knuckle retaining bolts, then remove the upper control arm ball stud to Steering Knuckle retaining nut so that the upper control arm ball studs separated from the Steering Knuckle. To remove the lower control arm ball stud to Steering Knuckle retaining nut then application of the ball joint remover (J 43631) in order to detach the lower control arm ball stud from the Steering Knuckle. Finally, remove the Steering Knuckle. For the installation, connect the Steering Knuckle to the lower control arm ball stud and then install a new lower control arm ball stud retaining nut. Then, install the Steering Knuckle upper control arm ball stud to Steering Knuckle and tighten with a new upper control arm ball stud retaining nut. Reinstall the brake hose bracket on the Steering Knuckle retaining bolts, align the outer tie rod with the Steering Knuckle, and bolt the outer tie rod retaining nut. Replace the wheel bearing/hub, followed by the tire and wheel, and drop the vehicle.
