2009 Cadillac SRX Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the steering knuckle on 2009 Cadillac SRX?
A: Start the Steering Knuckle replacement process by raising your vehicle while supporting it using proper tools then eliminating the tire and wheel components. Proceed by removing the wheel bearing/hub from the assembly. To start the replacement of the Steering Knuckle use j 24319-b (Universal Steering Linkage Puller) to disconnect the Tie Rod from the Steering Knuckle. First remove the outer Tie Rod to Steering Knuckle retaining nut. You first remove the brake hose bracket to Steering Knuckle retaining bolts before you disconnect the upper control arm ball stud from Steering Knuckle retaining nut to separate the upper control arm ball stud from the Steering Knuckle. The j 43631 (Ball Joint Remover) tool helps disconnect the lower control arm ball stud from the Steering Knuckle after removing the lower control arm ball stud to Steering Knuckle retaining nut. Install the Steering Knuckle on the lower control arm ball stud then tighten it with a new lower control arm ball stud retaining nut. The second step involves attaching the upper control arm ball stud to the Steering Knuckle before tightening a new upper control arm ball stud retaining nut. Install the brake hose bracket to its original position by using Steering Knuckle retaining bolts while you attach the outer Tie Rod to the Steering Knuckle and torque the outer Tie Rod retaining nut. Reinstall wheel bearing/hub before installing tire and wheel and complete the procedure by lowering the vehicle.
