How to replace the intermediate steering shaft on 2008 Chevrolet Corvette?

Starting the intermediate Steering Shaft replacement requires enough wheel turn to the left to access the upper coupling bolt. Remove this bolt first. The wheels must point straight ahead while the steering column needs to be in lock position because this protects the sir coil assembly. Insert the steering column lock pin (J 42640) through the steering column access hole to keep the proper orientation before taking off the lower coupling shield and lower coupling retaining bolt. First reinsert the steering column lock pin (J 42640) into the steering column and remove the lower coupling from the steering gear. Then slide the upper coupling off the steering column shaft before removing the intermediate shaft from the vehicle. When installing the system begin by placing the intermediate shaft into the vehicle followed by sliding the upper coupling into the steering column shaft and then connecting the lower coupling onto the steering gear. Tighten the lower coupling retaining bolt inside the lower coupling to 27 n.m (20 lb ft). Use tool j 42640 to unlock the steering column then push the column to make the upper coupling bolt hole reachable. Torque the upper coupling bolt in the upper coupling until it reaches 48 n.m (35 lb ft). Conclude installation by locking the column and guiding the wheels straight forward. After threading in the lower steering shield's screw, apply a torque force of 3.5 n.m (31 lb in).
