How to replace the intermediate steering shaft on 2007 Chevrolet Corvette?

Access to the upper coupling bolt becomes possible when you turn the steering wheel fully to the left before removing it. Wheels must face straight forward direction while the Steering Column remains locked to stop sir coil assembly damage. Insert the Steering Column lock pin (J 42640) through the Steering Column access hole to keep proper alignment before removing the lower coupling retaining bolt and lower coupling shield. Insert the Steering Column lock pin (J 42640) while keeping it inside the Steering Column access hole then separate the lower coupling from the steering gear and pull the upper coupling from the Steering Column shaft. Insert the new intermediate shaft into position before sliding the upper coupling onto the Steering Column shaft then adding the lower coupling onto the steering gear. Insert and tighten the lower coupling retaining bolt at 27 n.m (20 lb ft). First remove the Steering Column lock pin (J 42640) before unlocking the Steering Column. To reach the upper coupling bolt hole turn the wheel then bolt and torque it to 48 n.m using a 35 lb ft torque wrench. After straightening the wheels to face forward lock the Steering Column and secure the lower steering coupling shield with a screw tightened to 3.5 n.m (31 lb in).
