For the installation to go on well, put the new boot clamp on the rack and pinion boot and apply some grease on the inner rod and the gear assembly before installing the boot on the inner tie rod assembly. Make sure the rack and pinion boot is not twisted or malformed; If needed, mold it with your hands before safely, then tightening it in place. Then, install the boot into the gear assembly until it is seated in the groove and then using the Keystone Clamp Pliers (J 22610), install and crimp the boot clamp.
