2008 Chevrolet Equinox Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the lower control arm ball joint on 2008 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: You must take out the lower Control Arm before you start handling the Ball Joint replacement process. Mount the Control Arm into a vise or suitable clamp for secure placement during the process. Use an 8 mm (5/16 in) drill bit to pierce through the Ball Joint rivets until you progress with a 12 mm (31/64 in) drill bit before cleaning up the Control Arm slot. Note the Ball Joint position before removing it and placing it back for reassembly. Clean the Control Arm surface well before placing the new Ball Joint in its earlier noted location. Install the new Ball Joint hardware and secure its bolts with the bolt head on top according to product instructions. Attach the new Ball Joint to the Control Arm bolts then tighten them to 68 n.m (50 lb ft). Put back the lower Control Arm as a final step.
