2008 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2008 Chevrolet HHR?
A: The initial process starts by lifting the vehicle while providing support. A drain pan should be placed under the engine oil Drain Plug as you remove this plug to drain the engine oil. Begin by removing the engine Drive Belt and the lower ac compressor bolt as the next step. Start by uninstalling both the 4 Oil Pan to transaxle bolts and Oil Pan bolts before removing the Oil Pan from its position. Remove all residue of previous Oil Pan sealant that remains on the surface. Start by cleaning both the Oil Pan and the lower crankcase sealing surface from all oil and debris before you apply a 2 mm sealant bead around the Oil Pan perimeter and oil suction port. Keep the application area restricted to this specific area. Follow the fastener notice when you place the Oil Pan back on and tighten its bolts. Use a torque wrench to screw in the 4 Oil Pan to transaxle bolts while achieving 75 n.m torque (55 lb ft). Follow the specified sequence when tightening the Oil Pan bolts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) and then install the lower ac compressor bolt before putting on the engine Drive Belt. Lower the vehicle down and add engine oil at the correct level to finish the procedure.
