2008 Chevrolet Impala Oil Filter Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the engine oil and oil filter on 2008 Chevrolet Impala?
A: To change the engine oil and Oil Filter, first, lift and raise the vehicle. Put a suitable drain pan beneath the Oil Pan Drain Plug and remove the plug so that engine oil drains out completely. Clean and check the sealing surface of the Oil Pan Drain Plug, as well as replace the pan if needed, then wipe off the remaining oil on the plug hole and re-install the plug into the snug position. Next, place an appropriate drain pan under the Oil Filter and take off the filter, paying close attention to ensure the gasket of the filter is still attached to the old filter; if not, pull it out from the adapter. Install the new Oil Filter after applying clean engine oil to the new Oil Filter gasket and tighten it to 3/4 1 full turn after the gasket seats on the adapter. Fasten the Oil Pan drainage plug, tighten to 26 n.m (19 lb ft), and take the drain pan from under the vehicle. Drop the vehicle and fill the engine with a new engine oil and then start the engine and check for oil leaks. Turn off the engine and let the excess oil return into the Oil Pan for a few minutes. Take out the oil level indicator from the tube, wipe the tip with a paper towel or cloth, and tighten it back up until the handle hits the top of the tube. Take off the oil level indicator once more but holding it upside, and inspect the amount of oil. If needed, add or drain oil and check for oil leaks.
