2009 Chevrolet Impala Oil Filter Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the engine oil and oil filter on 2009 Chevrolet Impala?
A: The replacement process for engine oil and Oil Filter requires first lifting and supporting the vehicle. Set a drain pan properly underneath the Oil Pan Drain Plug before removing the plug to complete the oil drainage process. All inspections of the Oil Pan Drain Plug sealing surface should be completed with a new pan installed if needed before the Drain Plug hole is wiped clean for reinstallation until the plug becomes fully tight. Place a drain pan under the Oil Filter then remove the filter while confirming that the gasket remains with the old filter or else remove it from the adapter. Place clean engine oil on the new Oil Filter gasket before installation of the new Oil Filter which requires tightening to 3/4 to 1 full turn as soon as the gasket makes contact with the adapter. Screw the Oil Pan Drain Plug to 26 nm (19 lb ft) then remove the drain pan positioned under the vehicle. Add new engine oil through the tank in accordance with fluid specification standards and approximate fluid measurement values. Drive the engine while checking for any oil leakage. The oil draining process should begin after engine shutdown and continue for a period of several minutes while the oil returns to the Oil Pan. A clean paper towel or cloth should wipe the tube end before the indicator is carefully reinstalled until the handle touches the tube top. Use the oil level indicator to verify the oil quantity by keeping the tip facing downwards. Recheck the oil level while following the addition or drainage procedure for oil and verify for any oil leaks.
