How to replace the rear brake calipers on 2008 Chevrolet Malibu?

Before starting the caliper replacement check brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir. If the fluid sits midway between high and low marks no draining is needed but progress to draining when the fluid level reaches above the midpoint. For this project you must first lift the vehicle then take out the tire and wheel set from the vehicle. Apply a large c-clamp across the brake caliper only when the ends rest against its back and apply pressure to the outer brake pad before tightening until the caliper piston can pass through the brake rotor while remaining within a 1 mm (0.039 in) stroke. Take out the c-clamp and extract the brake hose from the caliper bolt and the brake hose itself. Toss away the 2 copper brake hose gaskets during this process. Protect fluid flow while you remove the brake caliper by putting caps or plugs on its holes. Then take off both brake caliper pin bolts and the park braking cable before removing the caliper from its bracket. Test the caliper slide boots for material damage and replace them when they fail. Fit the brake caliper to its bracket and fasten it using both brake caliper pin bolts which need to be tightened to 35 n.m (26 lb ft). Reposition the park brake cable then put in new brake hose gaskets. Insert the brake hose and turn the hose-to-caliper bolt tightly to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Bleed the brake system by using the Brake Pedal halfway to 2/3 of its range before slowly releasing until you reach a solid pedal action. Reinstall the tire and wheel parts before lowering the vehicle then press and release the park brake lever 4 times.
