Q: How to replace the front side door window regulator on 2008 GMC Envoy?
A: The procedure to change the front side door Window Regulator starts with removing the door trim panel, speaker and water deflector. The first step requires you to unbolt the regulator window carrier and lift the window up for support. First disconnect electrical power from the regulator motor followed by gently loosening the upper bolts which secure the regulator assembly to the door. Start by removing all three bolts which hold the Window Regulator assembly against the door. After this you should elevate the regulator assembly until you can pull out the upper retention bolts before gently turning the top section forward. Through the door opening you can extract the regulator assembly onto a prepared service. Once there remove the upper 2 retaining bolts from the assembly. Position the regulator assembly through the door opening with half-installed upper bolts in a semi-horizontal direction until it reaches the correct forward position in the door cavity before turning it to vertical. Lower the assembled component into the door sheet metal by using previously placed upper bolts and install the bolt that secures the motor to the door with a torque of 9 n.m (80 lb in). Complete regulator assembly installation by implementing the remaining bolts into the door before tightening them to 10 n.m (88 lb in) and connecting the electric connector to the motor. Place the regulator window carrier bolts loosely then operate the window from bottom to top position through the run channels before tightening the bolts to 10 n.m (88 lb in). As the final step you should mount the water deflector followed by the speaker and lastly the door trim panel.
