- Q: How to replace the Front Exhaust Pipe on 2009 Cadillac DTS?A: The replacement process of the exhaust manifold front pipe starts with removing the rear exhaust manifold pipe first. Next, remove the transaxle. Remove the front Exhaust Pipe from the exhaust manifold through its bolts. Start by disconnecting the egr inlet pipe nut from the front exhaust manifold pipe and progressing to the removal of the front exhaust manifold pipe to lower crankcase bolt and front exhaust manifold pipe to cylinder head stud. The next procedure requires front exhaust manifold pipe removal and complete discarding of the front exhaust manifold pipe seal from the left exhaust manifold. The retainer must be taken off from the exhaust manifold flange. The retainer together with a new front exhaust manifold pipe seal must be positioned over the left exhaust manifold before installing the front exhaust manifold pipe. The front exhaust manifold pipe to cylinder head stud requires 25 nm (18 lb ft) torque which must be followed by front exhaust manifold pipe to lower crankcase bolt torque at the same value. Secure the egr inlet pipe nut onto the front exhaust manifold pipe with 60 nm (44 lb ft) torque. Screw front Exhaust Pipe into exhaust manifold by attaching the bolts and fasten them at 25 nm torque setting (18 lb ft). The final step includes installing the transaxle together with the rear exhaust manifold pipe.
