The replacement process for an exhaust manifold front pipe begins with unfastening the rear exhaust manifold pipe. Next, remove the transaxle. The removal process starts with extracting the front Exhaust Pipe after unbolting it from the exhaust manifold. When working on the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve inlet pipe maintain proper protocol because disconnecting it requires substitution of the water pump housing crush seal connection. First disconnect the egr inlet pipe nut from the front exhaust manifold pipe and remove the front exhaust manifold pipe to lower crankcase bolt while also removing the front exhaust manifold pipe to cylinder head stud. You must take out the front exhaust manifold pipe before discarding the front exhaust manifold pipe seal which belongs to the left exhaust manifold. Drop the manifold retainer from the exhaust flange. First install the retainer and new front exhaust manifold pipe seal onto the left exhaust manifold before inserting the front exhaust manifold pipe over it. The front exhaust manifold pipe should be connected to the cylinder head stud before tightening to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) and then follow with the front exhaust manifold pipe to lower crankcase bolt which will also require 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Fasten the egr inlet pipe nut to the front exhaust manifold pipe by tightening it to 60 n.m (44 lb ft). Attach the front Exhaust Pipe to its mounts on the exhaust manifold before torquing these bolts to specifications of 25 n.m (18 lb ft). After installation of the transaxle and the rear exhaust manifold pipe completes the process.
