First process to replace the front pipe of the exhaust manifold is to detach the rear exhaust manifold pipe. Next, remove the transaxle. The next removal step involves taking away the front Exhaust Pipe by undoing its bolts which connect to the exhaust manifold. When the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve inlet pipe requires replacement it must be done because the crush seal connection is located at the water pump housing. Disengage the egr inlet pipe nut secured to the front exhaust manifold pipe before uninstalling the front exhaust manifold pipe to lower crankcase bolt and the front exhaust manifold pipe to cylinder head stud. You should remove the front exhaust manifold pipe before discarding the front exhaust manifold pipe seal which was installed on the left exhaust manifold. The mechanic needs to remove the exhaust manifold flange retainer. First place both the retainer and a new front exhaust manifold pipe seal onto the left exhaust manifold and insert the front exhaust manifold pipe. First tighten the front exhaust manifold pipe to cylinder head stud to 25 nm (18 lb ft) torque before applying the same torque value to the front exhaust manifold pipe to lower crankcase bolt. Connect the egr inlet pipe nut to the front exhaust manifold pipe and apply 60 nm (44 lb ft) of torque on it. Position the front Exhaust Pipe against the exhaust manifold before tightening its bolts to 25 nm (18 lb ft). Put back the transaxle together with the rear exhaust manifold pipe.
