2009 Cadillac Escalade Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front disc brake pads on the 1500 Series on 2009 Cadillac Escalade?
A: The brake master cylinder reservoir fluid evaluation determines if pad replacement is needed. On 1500 series, begin with fluid control at the midway point. Lift the vehicle then take off its tire and wheel unit. Press the caliper pistons to their complete retraction position through two strong c-clamps put over the caliper holder and pushed against the pad's back surface. Tighten the clamps until the pistons are fully compressed. When holding the slide pin with an open end wrench tighten and remove the lower brake caliper bolt. Hold the caliper stable with wire to shield the brake hydraulic line. Set the brake caliper to the top position and keep it stable before taking off both brake pads and shims beside the mounting bracket. Clean all contact faces on the brake caliper with denatured alcohol. Rephrase the Brake Pad shims by using fresh parts or returning existing shims to their original location. Before installing the brake pads place the insulator backing free and insert them into the mounting bracket. Put the brake caliper back correctly into position. Stop tightening the guide pin bolt at 100 nm (74 lb ft) torque when you hold the guide pin in place with an open end wrench. Bolt back the wheel and tire assembly while keeping the engine off before applying the brake pedal just 2/3 of the way and releasing it. Depress the brake pedal while keeping it engaged for 30 seconds to fully install Brake Pad insulators. Before you start complete the brake fluid reservoir with fresh clean fluid until it reaches the correct level then create new surface between pads and rotors.
