The first step to replacing heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) bank 1 sensor 1 requires turning off ignition. First remove the ho2s electrical connector before extracting the part from its bracket position. After raising the vehicle maintain support under its body while watching out for sensor attachment points where a permanent connector meets a pigtail cable. Additionally avoid exposing this pigtail or connector to dirt or grease contaminants. A temperature above 48°c (120°F) makes sensor removal simpler so technicians should wait for this condition before starting the procedure. Then pull the ho2s off the Catalytic Converter. For new ho2s installation and existing component reuse apply anti-seize compound p/n 5613695 or equivalent to the threads unless they already contain this compound. Fit the ho2s into position on the Catalytic Converter while applying 40 nm of force (30 lb ft). Complete positioning the vehicle at a lower elevation before connecting the wiring harness bracket containing the ho2s electrical connector.
