  • Q: How to replace the power steering pump (LY7) (3.6L) on 2009 Cadillac STS?
    A: One must start the Power Steering Pump (LY7) (3.6L) replacement by disconnecting both the front air deflector and power steering pulley and setting a drain pan under the vehicle. The first step should involve taking out the air cleaner intake duct followed by separating the power steering reservoir outlet hose and power steering pressure hose from the pump while also removing the power steering bracket to engine mounting bolts (1, 2 and 3). First detach the Power Steering Pump unit with the bracket from the automobile before removing the bracket from the Power Steering Pump assembly. Before reinstallation place the Power Steering Pump against the Power Steering Pump bracket after which you can reposition the combined unit inside the vehicle. Fasten the Power Steering Pump bracket using engine mounting bolts (1-3) while tightening them to 50 nm (37 lb ft). Connect the power steering pressure hose to the pump while attaching the power steering reservoir outlet hose before taking out the drain pan. The system requires bleeding of power steering after the power steering pulley installation and the air cleaner intake duct reinstall. The customer must finish reinstalling the front air deflector.
