- Q: How to replace the power steering pump on a V6 engine on 2010 Cadillac STS?A: The replacement of a v6 Power Steering Pump requires front air deflector and power steering pulley removal before placing a drain pan under the vehicle. Start by unscrewing the air cleaner intake duct then disconnect power steering reservoir outlet hose and power steering pressure hose from the pump followed by removing the power steering bracket to the engine mounting bolts (1, 2 and 3). The next procedure requires removing the Power Steering Pump unit along with its bracket from the vehicle before performing bracket separation from the pump body. To install the Power Steering Pump you must join the Power Steering Pump bracket with the pump before reinstalling this assembly into the vehicle. Secure the Power Steering Pump bracket to engine mounting bolts (1-3) while tightening them to 50 nm (37 lb ft). First you should link the power steering pressure hose and the power steering reservoir outlet hose to the pump while taking out the drain pan. To complete installation the technician must replace the power steering pulley followed by the air cleaner intake duct then perform power steering system bleeding before reinstallation of the front air deflector.
