2009 Chevrolet Cobalt Brake Drum Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake drum on 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: Start Brake Drum replacement by letting out the park brake and lifting up the vehicle with proper support. Take off both wheel and tire units then unmount the Brake Drum. When putting the Brake Drum back in use the (J 41013) tool to remove rust from the hub and Brake Drum parts while treating corrosion on the braking surface. Use (J 42450-A) to thoroughly clean the wheel hub flange. For new brake drums you should wipe off their friction surface protection with denatured alcohol or similar brake cleaner while using a clean fabric. Set the brake network adjustments before you set the Brake Drum into position and mount the tire and wheel unit. Last apply the brakes three times to help position the brake shoes inside the drum after you lower the vehicle.
