How to replace the rear brake backing plate on 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt?

After supporting the vehicle in its elevated position you should start by taking off the tire along with the wheel assembly. Start by removing the Brake Drum and brake shoes from the setup. After removing the Brake Backing Plate universal spring, the Wheel Cylinder should also be detached. Pull the rear park brake cable end fitting off the drum Brake Backing Plate then remove the wheel bearing/hub assembly. As the last step you need to remove the Brake Backing Plate. The installation process starts with new Brake Backing Plate installation followed by wheel bearing/hub assembly installation. Begin the installation by screwing the rear park brake cable end fitting to the Brake Backing Plate then adding the Wheel Cylinder and universal spring. Add brakes shoes before adjusting drum brakes. As the final step install the Brake Drum and perform a hydraulic brake system bleed. Complete the process by placing the tire/wheel components and bringing the vehicle back to ground level.
