2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: Raising and supporting the vehicle is the first step to install a new rear brake hose. Take out the entire tire wheel unit and thoroughly clean down both ends of the brake hose and brake pipe. Secure a rubber plug and cap over the brake pipe ends after you pull out the hose from the pipe using a back up wrench to avoid brake fluid waste and contamination. Unfasten brake caliper bolts at the frame section while also taking brake hose bolt off its connection at the brake caliper. Also remove metal gaskets which might be stuck to either part. Throw away the old copper gaskets and use brand new ones when assembling the brake hose fitting and fitting bolt. Install the rear brake hose assembly to its place on the caliper and fasten the fitting bolt to 54 nm (40 lb ft). After taking away the rubber protection from the brake pipe fitting install the brake hose directly into it. Put the rear brake pipe fitting to the brake hose using a back up wrench and tighten it to 25 nm (18 lb ft). Secure the brake pipe holder directly onto the frame and fasten with 20 nm (15 pounds feet) torque. First remove brake fluid from the system then put the tire and wheel back into their correct position while lowering the vehicle.
