How to replace the lower control arm on 2009 GMC Envoy?

The replacement process requires the vehicle to be both raised up and supported before removing its wheel and tire. The first step is to detach the outer tie rod from the Steering Knuckle followed by removing the stabilizer shaft link from the lower Control Arm. First remove the shock module yoke lower from the lower Control Arm followed by the lower Ball Joint from the lower Control Arm. Remove lower Control Arm Bracket mounting nuts and bolts from the Control Arm while recording bolt directions for replacement and maintaining transmission Axle Shaft connection (4WD only). Lower the Control Arm outward before moving it down to separate it from the lower Control Arm Bracket. Maintain the spacer's position within the front Control Arm Bracket front bushing while extracting the lower Control Arm from the vehicle. When installing the lower Control Arm first position the Ball Joint stud onto the Steering Knuckle then pivot the lower Control Arm outward and upward until it connects to the lower Control Arm Bracket before securing the mounting bolts while maintaining the lower Control Arm at a 90-degree angle to the bracket for proper bushing alignment. Begin installation by fastening the mounting nuts to 130 nm (96 lb ft) torques and attach the shock module yoke to the lower Control Arm. Next attach the lower Ball Joint to the Steering Knuckle then the stabilizer shaft link before installing the outer tie rod to the Steering Knuckle. After wheel placement replace the tire before lowering your vehicle. Then verify the front wheel alignment.
