Start clockwise rotation of the crankshaft balancer bolt to achieve a neutral camshaft position before marking both camshaft Timing Chain and position actuators for the right assembly. The technician should mark alignment points on Timing Chain links and the next adjacent teeth found on both exhaust and intake camshaft position actuators. Beginning with the open-end wrench rotate the camshafts towards each other until you achieve a chain slack condition before unscrewing the en-48313 (Timing Chain Retention Tool) to retract its legs. Place the en-48313 tool between the camshaft actuators with feet touching the engine front before expanding its legs to reach the Timing Chain but avoid tightening. The tool should be hand-tightened before rehinging the camshafts to create another slack. The en-48313 Timing Chain retention tool should secure the Timing Chain at its current position. An open-end wrench should be used to restrain engine rotation when loosening the left exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt followed by removing the actuator along with its thrust washer. Install the exhaust camshaft position actuator and intake camshaft position actuator marks to Timing Chain marks before installing the bolt loosely and taking out the en-48313 tool. Use the thrust washer appropriate for the actuator based on its attaching screw quantity before installing it when needed. When mounting the exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt use torque to a value of 58 nm (43 lb ft). The left intake and exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoids and sensors should be added next.
