- Q: How to replace the front drive shaft on 2010 Cadillac CTS?A: Vehicle elevation and modification of the lower engine shield must occur before starting front propeller shaft replacement. Begin by taking out both the right Catalytic Converter and front drive axle heat shield while marking down the propeller shaft relationships to front drive axle and transfer case flanges. Start by removing changes from transfer case drive flange to the front propeller shaft mounting bolts and their attaching locks. The front propeller shaft detachment from the transfer case and front drive axle drive flanges happens using a flat-bladed screwdriver before completely removing it from the vehicle. When attaching the propeller shaft allow its drive flange cones to fit correctly into both ends before aligning its reference points with the drive features on the transfer case and front drive axle. The propeller shaft must go into the front drive axle flange first before moving to the transfer case drive flange. Install the mounting bolts while securing the locks at the front drive axle flange, tightening them to 30 nm (22 lb ft) then proceed to fasten the bolts with locks at the rear drive axle flange and finish the torque to 30 nm (22 lb ft). The vehicle support can be removed after reinstalling the front drive axle heat shield as well as the right Catalytic Converter and the lower engine shield followed by vehicle lowering.
