How to replace the Return Power Steering Hose on 2010 Cadillac DTS?

Start the power steering return hose replacement by installing a drain pan on the ground then disconnect the hose from the Power Steering Pump. The first step entails removing the retaining bolt of the power steering return hose mounting bracket attached to the Cylinder Head followed by vehicle lift and support. The front air deflector together with the power steering gear heat shield need removal at this point. Detach the power steering return hose from its mountings at the wiring harness tie strap, frame brackets, power steering gear and remove it from the vehicle. Installation starts with fixing the new power steering return hose to the vehicle while attaching it to frame retaining brackets. Fasten the hose against the power steering gear until it reaches 34 nm (25 lb ft) torque and use a new tie strap to fasten the wiring harness. The front air deflector and power steering gear heat shield receive reinstallation and workers should remove the drain pan by lowering the vehicle. Put in place both the power steering return hose mounting bracket along with the retaining bolt that must be fastened to the Cylinder Head at 50 nm (37 lb ft) torque rating. Afterward connect the hose to the Power Steering Pump before performing a bleed on the power steering system.
