2010 Cadillac SRX Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the power vacuum brake booster on 2010 Cadillac SRX?
A: Start the power vacuum brake booster replacement task by removing the left side decorative panel from the instrument panel. Disconnect the brake pedal sensor wire and to pull the brake pedal to remove the booster pushrod retainer from underneath the pedal arm. Take off both components of the master cylinder including its seal and disconnect the brake fluid level indicator switch wires. Remove the power brake booster vacuum sensor electrical connector followed by the vacuum sensor and connected hose unit which needs to be positioned out of the way. Before taking out the power vacuum brake booster, both its power vacuum brake booster bolts need full loosenage to remove the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) assembly. Check if the power vacuum brake booster gasket shows signs of damage and put on a new one if it does. Set the power vacuum brake booster gasket in place over the booster unit then secure the booster with its bolts at 23 Nm torque with light torque to avoid brake pedal holding after high-pressure use. Put in the brake pressure modulator valve assembly before adding the power brake booster vacuum sensor assembly and its hose. Attach the power brake booster vacuum sensor electrical connector. Place the master cylinder on the vehicle base while installing the master cylinder O-ring seal and connect the brake fluid level indicator switch electrical connector. Place a new power vacuum brake booster pushrod retainer onto the pushrod and position it in the brake pedal arm tightly before adding the pushrod and retainer to their position. Use the correct wire to link the brake pedal position sensor and test the brake pedal position sensor. The final step in the process involves putting the left instrument panel insulation panel in place.
