• Q: How to replace the rear brake caliper bracket on 2010 Cadillac SRX?

  A: Start by raising and holding the vehicle then take off both the tire and wheel assembly. To stop brake pulsation use tools to detach the guide pin bolts but grip the guide pin with an open end wrench so it stays far from the brake caliper. Secure the brake caliper from dropping using mechanic wire or similar tools to protect flexible brake lines. Set the brake caliper aside without disconnecting its hose connection then take out the brake caliper. To continue, take out the Brake Pad set and their springs while discarding the replacement springs from the new pad set. Take out bolts from the Brake Caliper Bracket and lift off the bracket. After cleaning bolt threads on the caliper bracket install it first before applying threadlocker to two thirds of each bolt thread length. Soak the sticker with denatured alcohol waits for 10 minutes before installing the Brake Caliper Bracket bolts. Thread in the Brake Caliper Bracket bolts and use 110 nm (81 lb ft) to torque them. Add Brake Pad springs and place the brake pads in their proper positions starting from the outer to the inner pad. Install the brake caliper in its bracket before lightly screwing in its guide pin bolts. Place a back up wrench on the exposed guide pin while tightening the bolts to 60nm (44 lb ft). Reposition the tire and wheel unit after completing all installation steps.
