• Q: How to replace the Power Vacuum Brake Booster (LHD) on 2009 Cadillac SRX?

  A: Start replacement of the power vacuum Brake Booster (LHD) by taking out the left insulator panel of the instrument panel. First disconnect the vacuum Brake Booster Pushrod retaining clip using tools and then take out the Pushrod from the brake pedal. Do not separate brake pipes from the master cylinder while taking out the cross vehicle brace. Take the master cylinder off from the vacuum Brake Booster and keep it safe aside. Reach the vacuum Brake Booster locking tab by removing its air inlet grille panel then disconnect the vacuum Brake Booster check valve unit and vacuum hose. To access the surge tank you need to remove surge tank connectors before taking out its bolt and nut. Place the tank in a suitable position. Attach the Brake Booster holder j 22805-b onto the vacuum Brake Booster by fitting it onto the master cylinder mounting nuts. Use your flat tool to work down the Brake Booster locking tab and twist the booster counterclockwise with a ratchet while using the j 22805-b. Lift out the vacuum Brake Booster from its cowl mounting flange and stabilize it while working. Put pressure on the foam filter to reach the booster retaining clip, raise the leg of the clip upward to free the Pushrod from the system. When setting up the system keep the inner elements unstaked and verify the locking flanges stay intact. Move the vacuum Brake Booster locking tab into straight position before placing the Pushrod through cowl dust boot. Attach the booster to the Pushrod keeping the long part of the retainer clip inserted into the machined groove. After pushing the booster onto position a and rotating it several degrees counterclockwise to align with the Pushrod, fasten the booster clockwise using a ratchet connected to j 22805-b. Reconnect both vacuum pipe and valve then replace the Brake Booster holder j 22805-b. Put back the surge tank and bolt it with its nut while you put back the air inlet grille panel and filler parts for the vacuum Brake Booster. Reposition the cross vehicle brace before connecting the brake Pushrod to the brake pedal using its clip retention mechanism. Complete the installation by placing the left insulator panel.
