2009 Cadillac SRX Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2009 Cadillac SRX?
A: First disconnect the Brake Master Cylinder by detaching the Brake Fluid Level Sensor electrical connector and brake pipes before sealing each brake pipe fitting end with a rubber cap or plug for fluid containment. Start by taking out the air inlet panel support bracket push nut from the master cylinder mounting stud and subsequently pull the bracket to the side to rotate it out of position. First remove the 2 master cylinder mounting nuts then take out the master cylinder itself. When using the reservoir again remove it from the master cylinder assembly. To assemble the system first attach any detached Brake Master Cylinder reservoir to the master cylinder after which perform master cylinder bench bleeding. Place the master cylinder on the vacuum Brake Booster before tightening the Brake Master Cylinder mounting nuts to 25 nm torque (18 lb ft). Securely place the air inlet panel support bracket onto the mounting stud and tighten the push nut for installation. After removing the plugs from brake pipes install these pipes onto the master cylinder while maintaining fits with a torque of 38 nm (28 lb ft). As your last step connect the electrical connector to the Brake Fluid Level Sensor and perform a hydraulic brake system bleed.
