  • Q: How to replace the intermediate brake line assembly on 2009 Cadillac SRX?
    A: To switch the intermediate brake hose you need to lift and support the vehicle before removing its right rear tire and wheel units. Take away dirt from brake hose and pipe parts and seal the exposed pipe end with a cap or plug to stop fluid loss. First unzip the crossover brake pipe fitting from the intermediate brake hose assembly then place a cap on the free end. Use your fingers to eliminate pressure from beneath the brake hose before inserting a flat tool to extract the brake hose retainer from the assembly. Divide the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) brake pipe connections from the intermediate brake hose unit before capping the ports. Take the brake hose to caliper bolt off the brake caliper then take out the brake hose from its location. Strike the broken end of brake hose against the towel to free the gasket and toss away the 2 copper brake hose gaskets . Take out the intermediate brake hose assembly when you remove its mounting nuts from the studs installed on the vehicle. Position the brake hose correctly during assembly to avoid twist or kinking. Secure the intermediate brake hose assembly onto the mounting studs and tighten its mounting nuts to 14 nm using 124 lb in torque. Attach the intermediate brake hose assembly by placing its ends into the bpmv (brake pipe master valve) fittings. Install new brass brake hose gaskets into the brake caliper bolt opening before you place the brake hose over it. Thread the brake hose bolt through the brake hose while adding its new gaskets and bolt. Insert the brake hose into the caliper bolt at the brake caliper and tighten it to 50 nm (37 lb ft) torque. Put on the brake hose retainer at the rear frame before connecting the crossover brake pipe to the intermediate brake hose assembly. Tighten the connection with 18 nm (13 lb ft). Complete brake bleeding work before you replace the tire and wheel unit then lower the vehicle back to the ground.
