• Q: How to replace the Power Vacuum Brake Booster (RHD) on 2008 Cadillac SRX?

  A: The initial step to replace the power vacuum Brake Booster (RHD) is to remove the right closeout/insulator panel. First step is to pull off the vacuum Brake Booster push rod retaining clip before taking the Pushrod out from the Brake Pedal. You should also remove the cross vehicle brace if it exists. Disconnecting the brake pipes from the master cylinder must be avoided. Set the Brake Booster master cylinder apart when you take it out from the vacuum Brake Booster for replacement. Now you can reach the vacuum Brake Booster locking tab by removing its air inlet grille panel. Disconnect the vacuum Brake Booster check valve after engaging the locking tab. Install Brake Booster holder j 22805-b so you can rotate the Brake Booster counterclockwise using a ratchet while pressing down the locking tab using a flat-blade tool. Lower the vacuum Brake Booster off its cowl mounting flange through proper procedure and hold it up. Insert the foam filter then push it down to access the clip and lift the longer leg vertically to take out the Pushrod from the booster. Install the vacuum Brake Booster parts together without damaging their internal components or the locking flange. Use your hands to straighten the locking tab when needed before inserting the push rod through the dust boot and attaching the vacuum Brake Booster to the push rod. Make sure to slot the long locking clip into the machined groove. Turn the cowl clockwise to join booster locking flanges then twist the tool (J 22805-B) clockwise on the Brake Booster holder to make the locking tab fit the notch. Put back the Brake Booster holder (J 22805-B) then connect pump tube and valve assembly while restoring the front air intake section. Install the master cylinder onto the vacuum Brake Booster after connecting the Brake Booster Pushrod to the Brake Pedal and putting the retaining clip in place. Reinstall the right closeout/insulator panel and install the cross vehicle brace back if needed.
