• Q: How to replace the Power Vacuum Brake Booster (LHD) on 2008 Cadillac SRX?

  A: When replacing the power vacuum Brake Booster on the left side start by removing the left side instrument panel insulator. Before you detach extract the vacuum Brake Booster Pushrod retaining clip then take out the Pushrod from the brake pedal. Disassemble the cross vehicle brace when you have it. Leaving the brake pipes connected to the master cylinder remains essential during this process. Take out the master cylinder from its position on the vacuum Brake Booster and place it on the side. You will find the vacuum Brake Booster locking tab beneath the air inlet grille panel. Disconnect the vacuum Brake Booster check valve and vacuum hose before moving the surge tank from its position without removing its attached hoses. Mount the Brake Booster holder at j 22805-b onto the vacuum Brake Booster through its master cylinder mounting nuts. Press down the vacuum Brake Booster locking tab using a flat-bladed tool then turn the booster counterclockwise by applying a ratchet to the Brake Booster holder (J 22805-B). Put the vacuum Brake Booster on a stable base while you unlatch and remove it from the cowl mounting plate. Push the vacuum Brake Booster foam filter into the opening then lift the larger leg of its retaining clip up to remove the Pushrod from inside the booster. During setup keep the booster parts inside intact while checking for damage to the locking flanges. Insert the Pushrod through the dust boot on the cowl and join the vacuum Brake Booster to the Pushrod. To do this pass the long leg of the retainer clip into the machined groove. Turn the vacuum Brake Booster onto the cowl first with unlocking flanges engaged, then tighten it clockwise using the Brake Booster holder (J 22805-B) while making sure the locking tab enters the locking position. Reinstall the vacuum hose and check valve back into their original position after removing the Brake Booster holder (J 22805-B). Fasten the surge tank hardware before placing in the air inlet grille panel. Secure the Brake Booster master cylinder back to its place while connecting the vacuum Brake Booster Pushrod to the brake pedal through the retaining clip. In the last step replace the left closeout/insulator panel.
