• Q: How to replace the right side catalytic converter on 2010 Cadillac STS?

  A: To replace the right side Catalytic Converter, the right side bank exhaust manifold heat shield should be removed from the engine starts. Then remove the Catalytic Converter nuts and lift and support the vehicle. If the vehicle has an all-wheel-drive, take off the front driveshaft. Unclamp the Oxygen Sensor electrical connector and unfasten the pipe of the muffler from either the left or right side catalytic converters. Unbolt the Exhaust Pipe fasteners to the right bank Catalytic Converter then gently remove the Catalytic Converter with seal/heat shield and Oxygen Sensor from the exhaust manifold, tossing the inlet seal/heat shield. Take the Oxygen Sensor out of the Catalytic Converter. For installation process, connect the Oxygen Sensor to the new Catalytic Converter and do not reuse the inlet seal/heat shield. Fit the new Catalytic Converter seal/heat shield and position the Catalytic Converter onto the exhaust manifold and fasten well with fasteners. Connect again the cable of Oxygen Sensor afterwards inspect the welded connection on the Catalytic Converter and replace in case. Secure the muffler pipes to the left and right side Catalytic Converter securing with a tightness of 17 nm (13 lb ft). In case awd is detected, re-install the front driveshaft. Lower the vehicle and tighten the Catalytic Converter nuts to 50 nm (37 lb ft). Finally, re-install the right bank exhaust manifold heat shield.
