2010 Chevrolet Aveo Front Cross-Member Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Front Cross-Member in the front suspension on 2010 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: Before starting the front suspension crossmember replacement work you must first lift and stabilize the vehicle. Start by taking out both the front tire and wheel assemblies. Start by detaching the ball joint of the Control Arm while also removing the link nut between the stabilizer shaft and tie rod end ball joint. Before installation remove the bolts holding the engine mounting reaction rod then drain the power steering fluid before removing power steering pipe fittings and the intermediate shaft lower joint. You need to carefully support the crossmember because unsupported installation could cause it to fall when you remove its mounting bolts. The service process starts with crossmember assembly extraction followed by stabilizer bar and power steering gear set and Control Arm removal from the crossmember. In the installation process start by attaching the stabilizer bar and power steering gear set before putting on the Control Arm to the crossmember. Attach the crossmember assembly both at its front with a body nut and at its rear with a body bolt while torquing both to 150 nm (111 lb ft). Tighten both intermediate shaft lower joint fittings and power steering pipe connections to 22 nm (16 lb ft). Begin installation by tightening the engine mounting reaction rod bolts to 60 nm (44 lb ft) followed by tightening the tie rod end ball joint nut to 45 nm (33 lb ft) and completing the process with the Control Arm ball joint and stabilizer shaft link nut tightened to 45 nm (33 lb ft). Put the front tire assembly back in place along with the wheel components before lowering the vehicle frame.
