2010 Chevrolet Cobalt Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: Starting the replacement process with the Starter motor requires disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. Next lift up the vehicle to safe positions for work. Start by doing three things: removing the Starter solenoid terminal nut followed by unfastening the positive Battery Cable terminal from the Starter and thirdly separating the Starter solenoid wire terminal from the Starter. First disconnect the engine harness connector from the Starter and afterward remove the Starter bolts to extract the Starter. During installation position the Starter next to the engine while you observe all necessary fastener precautions. Use a torque wrench to apply 40 nm of force (30 lb ft) when tightening the Starter bolts. Install the engine harness connector to the Starter as a first step when you should also mount the Starter solenoid wire terminal and positive Battery Cable terminal and check that the anti-rotational tab settles into the indexing slot. After tightening the Starter solenoid terminal nut to 17 nm (13 lb ft) place the vehicle back down then reconnect the negative Battery Cable.
