2010 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace spark plugs on 2010 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: It is essential to start by removing fuel rail covers while waiting for engine temperature to drop to prevent Cylinder Head threads from damage. Clean the Spark Plug recess area by using a thread chaser if needed to prevent any soil which may impact new plug seating. The first step involves separating Spark Plug Wires before you should loosen each Spark Plug by 1 or 2 turns. A brush and compressed air tool should be used to clean surrounding dirt from the spark plugs until you remove them individually and place each one into labeled trays matching their cylinder number. Measure each Spark Plug gap before setting it to 1.016 mm (0.040 in). Put the plugs in their correct cylinder locations before tightening them to 20 nm (15 lb ft) for new cylinder heads or 15 nm (11 lb ft) otherwise. New cylinder heads require Spark Plug torque to 20 nm (15 lb ft) while all following installations require 15 nm (11 lb ft). Reinstall both the Spark Plug Wires along with the fuel rail covers as the last step.
