How to replace the rear axle shaft on 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

When replacing the rear Axle Shaft you must lift the vehicle and support it before removing the tire assembly. After raising and supporting the vehicle proceed with removing the Wheel Speed Sensor while also taking out the Brake Drum and brake caliper mounting bracket (if installed). Obliterate the rear axle housing cover and gasket then eliminate the Differential pinion gear shaft bolt. You must follow the precise procedures to remove the locking Differential when these devices exist in your vehicle. Follow different steps for lock Differential removal but otherwise perform Differential pinion gear shaft removal. A screwdriver helps you turn the lock to face the thrust block before pushing the rear Axle Shaft to detach the lock. To extract a difficult-to-remove rear Axle Shaft use the j 2619-01 (hammer) together with the j 45859 (remover/installer). Replace both the rear Axle Shaft seal and bearing whenever needed. When installing the part carefully check for seal damage before putting together the disc brake Axle Shaft with the drum brake Axle Shaft if your vehicle has this combination. Put the lock into position within the rear axle either when locking differentials are absent or installed directly on the Axle Shaft where Differential pinion motion is slightly withdrawn. To install the Differential pinion gear shaft users must tighten the new bolt to 34 nm (25 lb ft) with the 8.6-inch axle and 50 nm (37 lb ft) with the 9.5-inch axle. Verify that rear Axle Shaft end play aligns with specifications and check for acceptable radial play too. Replace any excessively worn parts. Start by installing the rear axle housing cover and gasket followed by the Wheel Speed Sensor and brake caliper mounting bracket. Complete the installation process with the rear Brake Drum (if present) and tire and wheel assembly. After support removal lower the vehicle.
